Along with the wrist and hand, the ankle and foot are perhaps the most complex areas in our body. The ankle joint contains as many as 28 bones and 33 joints! Our feet and ankles have to carry our body weight every day, absorb and transmit forces when standing and constantly anticipate intense jumps and landings. And this hundreds of times in a day.

Foot complaints
Do you know how many bones, joints, muscles and ligaments are in your foot? Because there are a lot of them! The foot is very complex with: 28 bones, 33 joints, 19 muscles and 107 ligaments!!! Because of this complex construction, your foot provides stability and shock absorption.
Ankle complaints
Ankle problems can occur when you make a strange or unnatural movement with the ankle and the muscles cannot accommodate this movement and all the forces have free rein on the tendons. But, what are the most common ankle complaints?
"Do your symptoms persist, don't trust your complaint(s) or can't stand the pain? Better be safe! Schedule an appointment at FriskFysio and we will be happy to help you get rid of your symptoms or give you appropriate advice. Even if your symptoms keep recurring, it is important to contact us! We can often prevent worsening complaints by doing so."
What can FriskFysio do for you?
Have you just fallen through your ankle? Then make sure you immediately cool the foot and ankle well under running cold water for the duration of at least 20 minutes. Follow the RICE principle for the next few days. Can't figure it out? Then give us a call! And ask one of our Physios for no-obligation advice via phone or chat.
Have you had pain in your ankle and/or foot for a long period of time? Then keep a close eye on this! What seems not too bad at first, can quickly turn into a serious injury! Take rest, but keep moving (responsibly). It is also important to do exercises to strengthen your muscles.
During your first appointment at FriskFysio, an interview and comprehensive examination will take place and your symptoms will be identified by one of our professionals. Based on this outcome, we will determine which treatment best suits your complaint(s). Together we will then draw up a clear treatment plan and you will be given exercises to take home which you can view online or via our FriskFysio APP.
