Do you also always notice after the summer holidays that sports at your club become more difficult? Then you are not the only one. During the summer break, sports at your club often stop and you are less active. After the summer holidays, you may notice that you tire faster when running laps or that you run out of breath faster during training. That's why we have some special tips to help you stay fit in the summer so that you can start training with your sports club again after the summer holidays.
1. Look for a summer sport
Summer break is a perfect time to take up a new active hobby. For example, you can take up a new sport that you can do every summer. This keeps you moving and engaged in your own personal development. Think of supping, surfing, wakeboarding or hiking.
2. Endurance sports
To keep your fitness levels high, endurance sports are very good to do. Endurance sports are sports where you are in motion for long periods of time. You can do this with several people, but of course you can also start by yourself. For instance, you can go running or cycling. Make sure you run in the right way to avoid injuries. Physiotherapists can help you with this, so you can be as fit as possible this summer. Should you find it too hot for running or cycling, you can always go swimming too.
3. Walking
Another way of keeping fit during the summer break is to do a lot of walking. The intensity here is a bit lower, but it is definitely a good way to keep fitness high. Similarly, walking is something you should train to run long distances. If you are a bit tired of walking in your own neighbourhood every time, you can also go sightseeing in different cities, walking on the beach or through the dunes. Just remember to wear good shoes to avoid any injuries.
Tip
Summer is very hot and you will sweat a lot while exercising. So remember to drink enough water while exercising to avoid dehydration. Have fun and good luck!
