I am Bas, co-owner of FRISKFYSIO and a passionate physiotherapist. My journey in healthcare began with my studies at the Academy of Physical Education, where I learned to understand the fundamentals of the musculoskeletal system and physiology. I then completed my physiotherapy training at Thim van der Laan University of Applied Sciences, where I further deepened my knowledge and gained practical experience.
Within FRISKFYSIO, I specialise in various treatment methods aimed at restoring and improving my patients' physical function. My expertise lies mainly in shockwave therapy, EPTE therapy (electrical stimulation therapy), ultrasound, dry needling, running training and lifestyle coaching. I also have extensive experience in treating neck, shoulder, headache and jaw complaints, which can often be complex and require a holistic approach.
What drives me in my work is the challenge of helping each patient in a personalised way. I see my work not only as treating symptoms, but as finding and addressing the underlying causes of physical complaints. Every case is unique, and I believe it is important to provide a solution beyond temporary relief. This means that I work with my patients towards long-term improvements by identifying and effectively addressing the causes of their symptoms.
Besides working as a physiotherapist, I am active in improving the overall health and well-being of my patients. Lifestyle coaching plays an important role in this, where I help my patients develop healthy habits and make sustainable changes in their daily routine. This includes advice on nutrition, exercise and stress management, where I guide them towards a more balanced and healthy life.
In my spare time, I am also active in various sports. For instance, I am an avid surfer and enjoy the challenge of learning new techniques and exploring different surfing destinations. I also enjoy playing basketball, which not only keeps me physically fit but also helps strengthen my team spirit and perseverance. Motorcycling is another passion I share with friends, as it is a perfect way for me to relax and experience nature. Friends and family are hugely important to me, and I enjoy spending time with them, both in sporting and relaxing activities.
All in all, I am immensely proud of my work at FRISKFYSIO, where I get the daily opportunity to use my knowledge and experience to help people feel better about themselves and improve their health. It gives me satisfaction to see my patients recover, feel stronger and achieve their physical goals. For me, my work is not just a career, but a way to make positive changes in the lives of others.
