(Sports) dietician
My name is Marisa Beliën and I have been a dietician since July 2021. After completing the HBO course in Nutrition & Dietetics at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, I immediately started applying my acquired knowledge in practice. I started working at Myrthe, a practice where I also completed my graduation internship. During this period, I gained a lot of experience guiding clients and further developing my skills as a dietician. Currently, I also work at FRISKFYSIO, a physiotherapy practice where I combine my knowledge of nutrition with physiotherapy to guide people optimally in their recovery and health.
My goal is to make people not only physically healthier, but also mentally stronger, so that they are more comfortable in their own skin. I achieve this by helping them build a healthy and sustainable relationship with food. I myself suffered from an eating disorder for several years and therefore know better than anyone how hard it can be to regain a healthy relationship with food. My personal experience allows me to better understand and guide clients through the process of recovery. At FRISKFYSIO, I work closely with physiotherapists to provide a holistic approach that encompasses both nutrition and exercise, so that clients not only improve their health, but also feel mentally stronger.
In today's society, where social media and the internet have a huge influence, there is often a lot of misinformation spread about nutrition and the so-called 'ideal' body. It is easy to get confused by all the advice that comes at us daily. That's why I work with my clients to find a realistic, achievable goal that suits their personal situation, desires and needs. It's not about pursuing unrealistic beauty ideals, but about creating a healthy, balanced lifestyle that suits the client themselves. At FRISKFYSIO, we work on the principle that every client is unique and that there is no 'one size fits all' approach. We take the time to look at what works for you.
Besides working as a dietician, I am also a certified Personal Trainer and have always done a lot with sports. From gymnastics, athletics and swimming to fanatic strength training in recent years. I am convinced that nutrition plays an important role in achieving sporting performance. Good nutrition provides energy, recovery and better focus during sports. Therefore, from January 2022, I started studying Sport Dietetics to further specialise in nutrition for athletes. At FRISKFYSIO, I also focus on athletes who want to improve their performance through a good combination of nutrition and exercise.
My greatest passion lies in helping people feel happy, healthy and confident again. I do this by supporting them to develop a healthy relationship with food, which contributes to a better physical and mental state. As a dietician, I combine my thorough knowledge with my personal experience, so that I can help people in a way that really helps them move forward. It makes me extremely proud when I see my clients regain their own strength and feel good in their bodies, both at FRISKFYSIO and in their daily lives.
