The new health insurance policies have been announced. It is now possible to switch health insurance for 2020. A calculation by Zorgwijzer shows that the health insurance policies have become slightly more expensive but the differences between them are still considerable!
For example, the difference between the cheapest and most expensive health insurance on an annual basis is as much as €500! So it's definitely worth looking into insurance policies carefully because it can save you a lot of money on an annual basis! Especially when you consider that basically the coverage of the basic package is the same for everyone. Since its content is determined by the government every year. However, there may be differences in the degree of hospital coverage and/or reimbursement in the case of non-contracted healthcare providers.
It is important that you are aware of what you are entitled to and what you can expect in basic and supplementary insurance.
Insurers cut physiotherapy again in 2020
Many insurers are cutting physiotherapy coverage from supplementary insurance by 2020.
This means concretely:
- Packages with high coverage are dropped or can no longer be taken out (e.g. at Nationale Nederlanden, De Amersfoortse Stad Holland, VGZ and UMC)
- Coverages of supplementary insurances with physio are reduced (e.g. at CZ, Univé and VGZ)
- Supplementary insurance policies getting more expensive (almost all insurers)
Unlimited physiotherapy almost out of the question
It will become more expensive and difficult to get health insurance with (unlimited) in 2020 reimbursement for physiotherapy. Supplementary insurance policies are going up in price, packages are being scrapped and many insurers continue to insist on medical pre-selections.
- Only four health insurers offer a package with full coverage for physiotherapy. Three of them are under the same group.
- Medical selection applies to three of the four.
- For a package with full physiotherapy reimbursement, you will pay an average of 714.57 euros next year. That is 40 euros more than last year.
- Packages with ample physiotherapy coverage (more than 20 treatments per year) are being dropped or have become significantly more expensive.
Well insured for physiotherapy in 2020
The following outlines the reimbursement of physiotherapy (adults) from the basic insurance:
Important information:
- You pay the first 20 treatments (per chronic indication) once yourself, regardless of whether you start a new calendar year or switch health insurers. The treatments covered by the basic insurance are first covered by the insured person's own risk.
- We have contracts with all health insurers. If you are treated by a physiotherapist who does not have a contract with a health insurer, you may have to pay part of the bill yourself.
- A referral letter from the GP is usually not required for a visit to a physiotherapist, unless explicitly required by the health insurer. However, in case of a (chronic) condition, a diagnosis will have to be made by a doctor/specialist first.
Physiotherapy supplementary insurance premiums
People with other complaints not on the chronic list can get a health insurance with supplementary cover for physiotherapy. Another option is to pay for the treatments yourself. For this, we offer the following options in the practice:
The reimbursements for Cesar/Mensendieck remedial therapy from a supplementary package correspond to the reimbursements for physiotherapy.
This does not apply to manual therapy! The number of treatment per insurer for manual therapy is usually lower. Check your policy or contact your health insurer for reimbursement and conditions.
Important:
- These days, it is no longer necessary to ask for a referral note from the GP to see a physiotherapist and be eligible for reimbursement.
- The reimbursements below are based on physiotherapists who have signed a contract with the health insurer. This includes us.
- The deductible is not applicable.
